Simplifying Expressions
The difference between an algebraic expression and an equation is that an equation has an equal sign and an expression does not.
3x + 2 is an expression.
3x + 2 = 5y is an equation.
An algebraic expression in simplest form has no like terms. We can use our Order of Operations to simplify an expression. Watch the following slide show to learn what a term is and how to combine like terms to simplify an expression.
